Damn la francophonie. In the Dutch speaking part of Belgium, learning French is mandatory. While in the French speaking part, it's an optional choice between Dutch and English. They prefer not to speak the language of the other side and choose for English.

In the Netherlands, it's perfectly possible to have emergency response vehicles with only English text on it. They are more open to foreign language, foreign food, foreign culture,... and Katy's first continental European arena sold out happened in Amsterdam.
