Can the upcoming Tekken 7 reach the 1M sales milestone when it's all said and done? Here's previous entries' sales for reference:

Can it? Take the current popularity of the series and the competition it'll have by the time of its release into consideration.

I'm gon have 2 say no unfortunately. The series' popularity is quickly spiraling downwards and there has been nothing but bad press and backlash about this specific game, not to mention there is absolutely no hype for it. To make things worse, Street Fighter V and Mortal Kombat X are upon us

Well, it's had a lot of promo so I hope it can reach 2.5 million or so.

Tekken fans are basically the Sonic fans of fighting games.

I'm asking a question about a fighting game that's popular on ATRL, no hate here. No need to be so bothered.

I wonder if the underperformance of Tekken 7 means SSB4 will be the best selling fighting game this generation

How much has it sold? Street Fighter 4 (last gen) sold more than any Smash Bros. game with the exception of Brawl, although the new SSB is out on 2 consoles and the series' sales keep growing so it's possible!

Smash 4 3DS:
Japan - 1,788,460
U.S. - 1,500,000
U.K. - ?
Australia - ?
Total: 3,288,460

So it's sold 4,225,987 copies and there were over a million copies sold in U.K. + Australia for the 3DS version but I don't have exact numbers for them. The numbers for the Wii U version just reflect the first week sales in the U.S. and Japan

Wii U version's sales too bad because it's by far the superior version

So i think it's safe to say that the sales/success of fighting games this gen will end up looking like this:

SSB Wii U/3DS > Street Fighter V > Mortal Kombat X > DOA game > Killer Instinct >> Tekken?

The Wii U sales are each just one week of sales. In the U.S. it should be near 2M by the next NPD. The Japanese sales are lacking just because the 3DS version came out first and Japan is more handheld-focused than ever (though the Wii version was still big enough to debut at #1 and will do around 750k-1M copies). I wish we had the U.K. and Australia sales

The Wii U version's sales will fall short compared to 3DS version's sales due to their respective console's install bases, lbr. Still, the Smash Bros series has truly become a juggernaut!
