I couldn't see how anyone could live off of them either.
That being said, ramen noodles aren't the only 'cheap food' items you can find in the grocery store either. You also have Bologna Sandwiches,Microwave Bean Burritos and your choice between Banquet or Michellina's meals.
I feel like the cup ramen noodles are more of a staple for college students who don't live in really urban areas and have limited food options.
I do enjoy eating ramen once in a while. Ippudo and Toto Ramen in NYC >>>. I hate pork but the pork buns at Ippudo are to die for.
In college, I used to. As for those saying other pastas and whatnot are cheaper today. That's true. There isn't much a price difference anymore. A box of mac used to be .69 back in the day and you could get 20 packages of ramen for under a buck in the late 90s. Which is why people said they were too poor to eat anything more than ramen. You could get 20 meals essentially for the price of the next cheapest item.
What the hell is Ramen noodle!?
And whatever it is I don't eat I prefer a braised pork loin with a cheese souffle or a decadent lobster and wild prawn medley.
I LOVE RAMEN NOODLES! when i was vacationing in morocco for 6 months I legit had no money so i was living off of Ramen with a cracked egg in it lol. even to this day I still stack on it. although i cant live off of it anymore lol! mom provides amazing food and i cook great <3
I went to the Noodle Museum in Yokohama, Tokyo last week and made my own cup noodles! First illustrated the cup, then chose my own flavor base (curry) and then added chicken, garlic, spring onion and chilli powder. Such a flawless souveneir. Can't wait to dig in!

Idk if it's because my grandma made steak and rice almost every night but I love "poor" foods like Ramen and Hamburger helper. It's so weird but I could eat those two things for the rest of my life.
