The first single ever released by Goldfrapp. Sure it failed to chart, but it definitely set a tone with the strange sound and the weirder lyrics. It was later re-released as a double a-side with Pilots. It's a big fan favorite (four tens...) but there was a backdraft here too that stopped it getting Top 5. If a video exists for this one then link it, I've never come across it.
tbh I have to be in the mood to fully enjoy this one. Some days its a 2, some its a 10... so I went in between. This is a good place for it imo, not the worst song still left though. Sums up my general feelings for Felt Mountain I think.
Best bit: "Why can't this be killing you?"

I'd be totally here for A&E snatching that well deserved #1 spot, so bring it on!

Lovely Head is cute, although it can be annoying at times.
That single cover though.

oop dat lowest score.
Believer was the third and final single from Head First and unlike Alive's failing to chart it actually reached the UK charts. At 140. The little victories I guess. It did not get a proper video, only a tour performance one. Is there anything else to say about this song?
I don't like this. I don't hate it, but why is it Top 10? Why is it cracking the 8 averages? Why was it released over some other tracks? Why is it above Train?? The mysteries of life.
Best bit: The retro instrumental.

The final single from the album of the same name and Goldfrapp's third top 30 hit. A very sleek trip-hop ballad (one of many on the album), it remains a huge fan-favorite even though it never received a video.
Now this is top 10 material. It's really calming and just good chillout music. This song is an experience and this is the perfect place for it. Luckily it seems that those of you with taste got it.
Best bit: The distorted vocal hiccups after the chorus.

The final single from Seventh Tree, Clowns is about women on tv getting plastic surgery, or more specifically breast implants. In true final single fashion it got no proper video either! And to top it all off it charted at 115, their lowest entry since Lovely Head 8 years prior. Still higher than Believer though.
Never did I expect Clowns to be higher than the other 2 Seventh Tree singles, let alone competing for Top 5, but here it is. Nobody hated it, which was enough to boost it past bigger fan favorites. Personally, I think it's solid. Not outstanding, but pleasant enough.
Best bit: Alison's childlike, muffled vocals.

Clowns outstayed it's welcome. Sorta mad about Lovely Head leaving, but it seems we can all agree A&E should win, so all may be forgiven if it does.

Black Cherry slays me, the hiccup things are so cute.
I woulda given Clowns a 10 if she didn't serve Sia teas with the enunciation. The instrumental >
