Taylor by far. Most of Katy's lyrics are cliched/generic and Ari doesn't write most of her own songs.

I swear it's like people on ATRL can't form their own opinions and run to different sources to form theirs. None of what you just listed has anything to do with PERSONAL opinion on who is a better songwriter

Katy's writing has become minimal over time, she used to be a good writer but is now a passable writer and we all know how much 'inspiration' she took from Bonnie.
Taylor is the clear winner professionally, she has the grammys and credits to prove it, who else could write and produce a platinum selling album completely solo?
Personally Taylor is the clear winner for me also, she has real substance behind her words and has proven that fame and fortune have not made her lose touch with the emotional trials of life, that has happened to so many artists.

I understand Katy Perry is one of your faves and most of y'all have been clocked multiple times in this thread, and well, I'm sure the landslide win puts a little salt on the wound, but I can't help the fact that she's not as good of a songwriter as Taylor Swift, which is MY PERSONAL OPINION, and everybody else in the industry that matters tend to agree

Yet, 1989 is not generic, a few generic songs does not equate to a whole album or artist being generic. Like, where the **** is the logic in that?! Taylor Swift is NOT a generic bubble gum pop artist either  .While Katy is the epitome of bubblegum generic pop music, it's hard for anybody to deny that.
