You cannot fight fire with fire
An eye for an eye leaves everyone blind and
We are all slaves of desire
Controlled by the things we think that we need
No, not trying to preach through the choir
‘Cause I’m just a girl born unto this world but
I am no god or messiah
But here’s what I know
Everything must go
Like everything you know, forget about it
Everything must go
Like everything you think you know
After the fire
We each have my sweatsuit and one pair of shoes
No, nothing designer
But smile anyway ’cause my mama said that
happiness comes from within so
What you create for you, no one can take from you
Your energy and your soul
Is all that goes, wherever we go
1. To become an official Buddhist, what you must do is to accept the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha for refuge because they will lead you to the path of enlightenment, ultimately destroying the curse of samsara. The Buddah is a person who has achieved perfect enlightenment through practices of the Dharma. He has made perfect decisions and because of this he will be an excellent teacher. The Dharma is the actual teachings that every Buddhist follows for the best path to enlightenment because it was made by the Buddah. A Buddhist recognizes the Dharma through a qualified teacher and reading scriptures. Once you familiarize yourself with this you can now put it to practice. The Sangha are your companions (monks, nuns, etc) that will care for you when you're sick, help you through tough times, and be by your side as you make your journey to enlightenment. You will need a strong sense of community as a Buddhist.
2. To find inner peace, you must follow the teachings of the Dharma. That doesn't necessarily mean give up your desires, there are many branches of Buddhism that allow certain desires (though it depends in the desire), but the main thing is to focus on is practicing the Dharma and having good morals outlined in it.
3. Buddhism is peaceful because it's not a religion that says you have to be a certain way or you won't go to a good place in the after life. It doesn't want you to force people to convert, it's accepting of all religions and all religious people can also be Buddhists. The main reason though is because everyone wants to break samsara do they want to 100% be there for everyone and that's why its peaceful
1. What is an "official" Buddhist? There is no conversion in Indian "religions". They accept everyone so technically everyone is a Buddhist, Hindu, Jain, etc.
2. Read Buddha's teachings. Think about your actions and realize there are consequences. There's nothing with desire, but holding onto so many of the useless ones holds you down.
It sounds like you're looking for a lifestyle change rather than you actually believing in Buddha
but Buddhism isnt a religion , its a way of life
and you dont need to believe in Buddha - whether he was real or not doesn't affect his teachings, contrasted to Christianity - which without jesus Christianity is a lie.
