He does not have to be "the one." That's what you either don't seem to get or won't get over. That's something you have to work on, not Sam.

Sam not being so vanilla and bland could pave the way for men in music being open about their sexuality

Yeah, because that worked out so well for Adam Lambert. Being "vanilla" and "bland" is exactly why Sam is seeing success, will continue to be successful and probably won't be forgotten like Adam Lambert and those gays who try to be flamboyant in their music to make a statement only to be considered relics of their time. It's sad how those things work, huh?

What the hell do you want him to do? Dress up in spandex, sing about sucking dick, and yell "YAAAASSSSSSSS" to appear more gay? Let the poor man be and just do what he wants. He's clearly more than happy with who he is, and doesn't feel the need to cater to gays. His sexuality and music really don't need to cross paths if he doesn't want them to.

I mean am I wrong for thinking that gays should treat their sexuality the same way straights do? Singing about it? Expressing it with joy? Including it in their videos and lyrics? This whole "I'm not defined by being gay" seems like an excuse people use for hiding who they are. Very insecure people.
I''m not saying you need to attend gay pride parades 365 days a year, but intentionally hiding your sexuality when others are so open is has nothing to do with being defined by you're sexuality. It is not my fault you feel uncomfortable with who you are and feel the need to censor yourselves but It's obviously self hatred and you guys are just acknowledging you see yourself beneath straights people.

He already said in plenty of interviews that he loves men; therefore he is an openly gay man. He does not talk about liking women; therefore he is not self-loathing.
You're basically arguing that he isn't "gay enough," and is exactly why I said you're being judgment and close-minded.

No one is saying he has to be flamboyant or try to make statement (if it is as normal as he claims it is, it wouldn't even be a statement, after all!), and the fact that you automatically associate those terms with him acknowledging his sexuality in a non-bland way is VERY telling.

Does he need to act queen to be recognized as a gay man?

I can't tell if you guys are purposefully being foolish or just mad because you're fave is being slandered but all I'm asking is for him to say man or boy or dude once or twice as someone who is proud of their sexuality would do. Why do you guys keep acting like I'm saying he should be the male Gaga?

It's extremely telling. According to them you can't be a proud, out gay without being a flamboyant queen (which they see as lesser) who sings about riding dicks. Sad gays themselves can;t see their orientation beyond the sex itself. All we're saying is that if he sings about relationships with men (as they claim) why can't he make that SOMEWHAT clear. He literally admits to hiding himself and being generic so homophobic society will accept him instead of being who he is and they applaud him. It's weird.

You know damn well he meant musically. If you're going to purposefully take people's posts out of context and pretend you can';t understand simple points then log out.

He does not have to. And if his songs are gender-neutral, then that doesn't prove that he is "ashamed" or trying to hide who he is.

It's his artistic choice to remove the gender of his affection from his music. He's already openly gay, so saying that isn't enough is honestly a toxic point of view.

Yeah but not explicitly.
He's not like "Bro, stay with me." or "dude I know youre not the only one." It's general and ambiguous enough where non gays can jam to it without feeling awkward.
Whether you like it or not (probably not) the world is still hetero, and most hetero folks would feel the same way I do. Sorry I guess.

Never said he had to, it's just lazy and a cowardly attempt to still get money from a homophobic audience.
Is there a gay equivalent to an Uncle Tom? Can it be a Sister Sam from now on?

I think it's weird that he changed the lyrics in that cover.
However, I mostly agree with him.

And then he will be finally accepted by you. Yay!
And the fact that he has to say "BOY, I yearn for your love" as a lyric in a song to prove that he is "proud of his sexuality" is "telling." And no, I'm not logging out because I point out a frivolous point of view.

If he yelled his sexuality in his songs, y'all would call him desperate.

I know a lot of straight dudes who don't know he's gay or know what he looks like just jam to his music and don't care. It's working.
Frank and Miguel their power tbh,

Yea, the fact that he changed the lyrics to "how will I know" proves that he doesn't want to turn people off with his sexuality, but it does not mean he is ashamed.

His own right to keep up whatever image he chooses to + also not his obligation to be a trailblazer.
But I mean this act does give off much more of a "trying not to offend the masses" than "I just want my auds to feel and relate" so yeah I see where it gets uncomfortable.
