A pub built in the 70s isn't going to provide the juxtaposition a really old pub built in the 1700s will. It's just kinda nifty hopping off the tube and into my local, which is super old.

Buildings can be renovated dependent on intended use, so as long as everything is structurally sound the age of the building itself is immaterial in terms of every day living; in reference to your: "modern house"/"oudated model".

I'd rather live in modern house too but that doesn't mean I have no respect for architectural masterpieces which last for hundreds of years. So yes it cultural difference. Europeans actually have some.

Obviously you have quite a bit of stereotypes in your head, we have plenty of cultural important cities. (Jamestown, Philly, Richmond, Boston, New Orleans, etc.) The fact that an entire continent is being compared to one country says enough about our importance and social stability.

lmao, Goosey is too much. I actually love the fact that London has like old pockets of the old times mixed with the modern world. I wish that USA was older than it is. Only because I love history and that makes me so excited. Seeing how much things have been put through in the many centuries it's been there. So cool.

Europe slays USA in that department. I live in the South and the only old buildings I've visited are things from the Civil War. Like battlegrounds and plantations.

Have you not taken a history class? the US started in the North East which is where most of the old buildings are, example NYC, Boston ect. Most of the old buildings in the south were destroyed because of the Civil War.

I think USA as an acronym (because thats what the OP was asking) is more iconic. Usually when people (outside the UK) say the UK, they are only referring to Great Britain and not Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland. If people want to specifically refer to the other 3 countries of the UK, they will just say the countries name. Its kinda of a messy situation and a little unfair to the other 3 countries. So in that sense, USA is a more iconic acronym
