Actually, it's just the specific banana that we eat that's going to be wiped out. A similar thing happened back in the day to the banana they used to eat in the 50s

They found a new type of banana that was disease resistant and that's the one we have today that's on its way out. Food scientists will probably just develop another type of banana to grow. Like the Ice Cream Banana
