Eve has spoken about the heavy delays in releasing her new album, and she was even forced to re-record some of the songs so they wouldn't sound out of date.
The rapper should have released fourth solo studio record 'Here I Am' in August 2007, but after numerous problems involving her (then) label, the album has yet to surface. Eve has now signed a new deal with Geffen Records and retitled the longplayer as 'Flirt'.
Speaking to NYPost.com's PopWrap blog, the actress says: "Unfortunately I am caught up in a whole music label situation. The album is finally going to come out this spring or summer. But with all the time that passed, we went back in and reworked the whole thing."
"I had to get in there and put in some upbeat music that I wasn't depressed about... It won't be called Here I Am anymore. Now it's called Flirt. I am truly, truly sitting on some amazing music. Nobody's been waiting longer than me to get this monkey off my back!"
I think if she takes her time and actually gets this project together, she could have some hits again. There's no one in that place right now. Ching-A-Ling*wave
Female hip hop is dead and I honestly don't think it'll come back unless Eve can come back with a female anthem. Thats her only bet at a hit. Its ashame because she's one of the few talented femcees in the game.
Eve actually has selling platinum power though. Ron get's behind most of his artist, so if they are really serious then she can do well. I love Eve, and have all her albums.
Eve did a song for The Transporter 3 called Set It On Fire which is HOT! I don't think her album will do well, but I hope she can eventually get this album released.
