This is not about Mariah at her peak, we're talking about right now in 2014. Mariah's vocals have been decaying for some time now, and the extent of her vocal deterioration became more event with her recent performance of AIWFCIY:
Here we see Mariah struggling to sing her iconic xmas song with shoddy vocals, poor breath control, and the inability to sustain notes.
On the other side of the coin, we have Ariana:
Obviously not as vocally impressive as Mariah at her peak, but as of now... Ariana's ability to reach and sustain notes longer really shows that she probably has surpassed Mariah now.
These are just my thoughts, and I am interested in the opinions and takes of others
Just like Whitney, Xtina, etc, it will happen to Ari too, when you sing like that all your life, your vocal chords will get damaged and reduce your vocal capacity
