I Will Always Love You..... that's truly how I feel after watching this movie. I feel that Lifetime has truly regained itself from that last tragedy titled, "Aaliyah". Whitney, a legendary icon that truly does deserve a movie should not have been constrained to the small screen. And if it did ever hit the big screen, I would like to see someone like Angela Bassett direct it. She did her thang.
The movie does not cover Whitney's whole life nor her career, it mainly focuses on her relationship with Bobby Brown. I know what your thinking, MEDIA ATTENTION huh? Well I can say that this was actually tastefully done. It hits on how, although Bobby did do drugs, his main addiction was alcohol. It states the fact that Whitney was already snorting before Bobby, and actually kind of introduced him to it. She was just keeping it to herself. The gift and the curse of it all is that Whitney did not write her own music, and that is one major thing that attracted her to Bobby Brown. Also with that being said, we DO actually get to hear familiar music done by Whitney, although they didn't use her voice, Deborah Cox did an amazing job on the vocals. Yeah I know, ITS NOT WHITNEY, but Whitney is "THE VOICE" so who can actually do what Whitney could do? The movie is only about an hour and a half so they didn't hit EVERY milestone, which is why I would LOVE to see Whitney get a silver screen production. It covers her meeting Bobby, his jealousy of her career, their marriage, her miscarriage on The Bodyguard, her relationship with Clive Davis (Who was a cast correctly), Bobbi Kristina's birth, Bobby's cheating, Bobby's secret confession about Whitney that hit tabloid covers.
One thing I did appreciate is the fact that there wasn't a storyline built on the rumors of her lesbian acts. Her wedding dress was a beautiful recreation. Although I'm not sure they got Whitney's wigs correct with how she wore them at certain parts of her life, they weren't too far off from what Whitney wore in her life. Overall I give this movie a 4 out of 5, and I will definitely be tuning in when it comes on TV, January 17, 2015 8/7c.
In this scene, Whitney and Bobby have recently gotten back together from one of their "breaks" and he breaks the news that while they were on break, he was sleeping with one of his baby mamas and she was pregnant again.....then Whitney turned to drugs...
