I'm just surprised with all the backlash and the constant hate Mariah is currently getting. It's completely unnecessary and honestly, I don't understand where it is stemmed from. Why is the media doing this to Mariah. She has had a rough year and the only time Mariah is usually happy is Christmas and I'm sad they ruined it for her. I don't give a damn about bragging rights, I don't care anything about that. I was just saying how insulted I was when my own family chose to agree with what the media is saying/doing right now. But my main concern is still and always be about Mariah being okay right now. This all definitely must be hard on her.
!!!
I mean I know it sucks for her and I really hope she shuts them down.
I was just saying seeing people usually talk trash and put her down online is the same, but seeing people in real life especially family & friends tear her down and laugh is pretty damn hard to hear and embarrassing.
While thinking about your meltdowns criticism I remembered something I learned a few weeks ago: In Greek, nostalgia literally means ‘ache to return home’. I know that Mariah herself uses the word for fun, for a good throwback, and for what she considers 'real' music. She may not even know about the origin of the word but it captures her being and her entire discography in one word.
To this day, Mariah has not overcome the troubles of her childhood and youth. Even at the age of 44, she's still the girl that feels ‘somewhat out of place everywhere’ (Outside). She still ‘aches to return home’, to be in a place where feels safe. This melancholic yearning shows even in her most cheerful songs: Dreamlover, Always Be My Baby, and All I Want For Christmas, they are all about an unfulfilled desire. The big exceptions: It's Like That and the bops from Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel.
Memoirs was an unusually happy album for her, like you can literally hear how in love and happy she was during the recording. I think with Nick she felt like someone was actually ‘saving her life or the first time’ (I Only Wanted). He was her rock, her constant, and she's always hoped that he would love her for who she truly is (cp. Camouflage). That their marriage is over must be devistating and extraordinarily hard on her: The man whom she considered to be ‘the one’ did not only turn his back on her but also took her safety, maybe even her hope that someone would fully accept and love her for who she is after all.
Her husband left her, supposedly for some girl that is a lot younger than her, the GP and the media incessantly criticize her, her looks, her attitude, her being, and now they trash even the very one thing they always admired about her: her voice. But I think it's not her voice that's damaged, it's her confidence. During her performance last week her face revealed her self-consciousness. I felt so sorry for her not because she was a little off key one or two times but because she seemed so uncomfortable. Sure, her voice has declined but she could still outsing anybody in the business if only she felt more secure and confident about herself. That she's still able to hit notes that are out of this world proved Me. I Am Mariah... (and don't you dare claim the transition on You're Mine or whatever is edited, she still can do it when she feels comfortable, and you know that!) and videos like this one:
So if you're a true lamb she needs you now more than ever. It is okay to constructively criticize her and her team and discuss what's going on but if you bash her because of her voice you are not helping her to break out of that vicious cycle. The tour showed that all she needs right now is a little encouragement and reassurance: The first shows were the hardest for her but then, as she eased into performing again, her voice got stronger again and she got better. Confidence is one of the reasons The Emancipation Of Mimi slayed so hard. She felt so good about herself, she felt every line from It's Like That. So if you want to have her a successful ‘comeback’ again support her, if you're a fan and if you love her then help Mariah to find herself again, help her to ‘return home’.

Yep, back when you know every late night monologue, award show, and benefit would have a Mariah joke. Even celebs went in on her. I remember Jennifer Aniston making several jokes about Mariah

They do it because they know you're a fan. I promise you 2001 was worse than this, but she got through it
Thank you. Keep that in mind for the Lambily Awards 2015
Speaking of which, I can't wait for the award season just because of your campaigns.

But I think your message is true and well said.
Oh, really? Interesting, indeed. Memoirs certainly has bitter moments (Betcha Gon' Know, H.A.T.E.U.). But Candy Bling, Ribbon, Inseperable, More Than Friends, The Impossible are so sanguine, and Up Out Of My Face and It's A Wrap are more playful than serious, which is why I've always felt like it is, along with E=MC² probably, her most positive album.

Memoirs has 1 uptempo and its her most positive album?
It's A Wrap is anything but playful, Mimi was so serious with his ass.
