How many times do we have to hear the misogynistic line "all these b***** is my sons" line from nicki?
As we see in this video, the line seems to be almost filler at this point. Nicki throws it in whenever she can't think of another bar to use and just rehashes it.
Having listened to pretty much Nicki's entire discography at this point, I do get a bit annoyed by the rehashed lyrics. I think the most mind boggling lyrics recycled were in Whip it, where she said:
ummhummm, is that my cue?
im lookin for some brain to boost my IQ
Im like 5"2, my S.A.T scores were high too,
but i dont wanna brag, and louis vuitton bag them
im like the jaguars, it is a jag-jaguar
thought she was a queen, i drag-dra-drag-dragge them
that shoulda rolled me, whipped out the magnum
This verse originates from the leaked cassie song, F U Silly... which proves that Onika can and will recycle verses/lines even if the context is completely different. Skip to 2:24
I won't even mention how many times, Nicki will plug Myx miscato in her lyrics... which kind of makes some of her bars feel even more like filler, if not lifeless promotion tools
Is this an issue for you or do you like when Onika recycles lyrics?
It's certainly concerning. We're supposed to believe that Onika is an accomplished lyricist and yet she returns to the same lines over and over again. That entire recycled verse from 'Whip It' is shocking.
You mad at her iconic trademark lines? Get over it. Nicki is a genius and you wouldnt even be able to come up with a quarter of the raps she has written.
I didn't know about Whip It but as soon as I entered this thread, I thought of 'bitches are my sons' lyrics
Well, at least when Nicki spits, she wrote it!
No. The "bitches is my sons" line is a signature line and she makes a different punchline with it every time, so it's not completely recycled.
She re-used F U Silly because she was very busy when she made PF:RR and it's an unreleased song. She regrets not having much time to work on PF:RR which is why she took a lot of time to make TPP.
I kinda agree with the Myx Moscato lines though. But get that promo I guess.
All rappers have their signature thing. It's no different than Iggy saying or spelling her name in damn near every song. It's actually pretty clever with how many ways Nicki can use "these bitches is my sons". i
