My parents hit me a lot too (mainly my mother), and when I was a teenager they gradually stopped hitting me but the physical abuse got replaced by manipulative emotional/psychological abuse. I hardly ever see or talk to them anymore...
However, I still love them because they did provide me with money, shelter, food, etc. as a child. So even though they could have done their job at parenting 10x better, I still appreciate that they did the bare essentials for me.
They've manipulated you into thinking you should love them, open your eyes.
