The Hanging Tree is from the score, not the soundtrack so obviously it would be nothing to do with Lorde.

Obviously. But she's well known to be in charge of the soundtrack so it wouldn't be a far jump for people hearing a hunger games song to assume that Lorde had something to do with releasing such horror upon the world.

Check out Spotify, they actually tacked it on to a new version of the soundtrack. And yeah most people probably wouldn't know the difference between score and Lorde-produced soundtrack
