Well they were only comparing the actual nominees.
There are basically 4 factors to consider:
Sales (Half million sales+)
Hits (especially T10)
Acclaim (67+)
Grammy Friendliness (either in being pretty AC or else via past noms)
St. Vincent has one of those.
Jack White has two.
Pharrell has 4. Ed Sheeran has 4. Beyonce has 4.
Sam has 3.
Beck has 2, but his Grammy friendliness trumps Jack's. And his acclaim also trumps Jack's.
Sia deserved it so much more
