You have every right to be here, but literally every single thing I've seen you post in this thread in the recent past has been tinged with shade. Also, from some of your posts I've seen outside of this thread, I get the feeling that you may have once liked Gaga, but do not anymore. So I ask you - why are you here? Please don't take this as a personal attack, because it's truly not meant to be one, but if you don't really like the good sis anymore, I fail to see why you insist on posting in a thread dedicated to her.
Today I was using my phone and my coworker asked me who's on my phoce case (which is the ARTPOP album cover) and I said it's Gaga. She said she hadn't heard about Gaga in years and asked if she had any new music out. I said she put out an album last year and this year and she still said she thought Gaga had retired. And I've heard many people say this which makes me so sad because only 3 years back Gaga was EVERYWHERE. I just don't know why her efforts aren't recognized anymore, I understand the GP may not appreciate all of her music but the fact that MANY people think she retired or they don't hear about her anymore makes me sad.

Surprisingly, I've heard many other fans say the same thing about people they know, which gives me the impression that a large part of the issue with ARTPOP really was it's ineffective promotional plan. Yes, promo can only go so far, but when many people don't know of an A-List pop star's latest work, it really is an indication that more promotion needs to be pumped into the album so people can know it's out there. I mean, how are consumers supposed to know to potentially buy an album if they don't even know it exists?

This makes sense. But at the same time, no matter how much you promote your work, if it doesn't resonate with the public, it's honestly not gonna go anywhere. For example, Beyoncé did like 3/4 of the promo Gaga did with ARTPOP with her latest work, yet EVERYONE knows about BEYONCÉ (the album) and everyone you ask about Beyoncé's latest work, they'll tell you. Meanwhile you ask a 95% (obviously a hyperbole) of the GP what Gaga's latest single was and they will probably say Born This Way. Or even worse, Bad Romance.

that media blackout hurt her more than anything i guess

But Beyoncé's album is a completely different story. Beyoncé had been getting her name out into the public sphere for almost a year before the album came out, through the SuperBowl, the Pepsi adds, and other endeavors, in which she slowly attached a positive connotation to her image. (Gaga, on the other hand, was recovering from a hip injury, and was quite literally nowhere to be seen save for the odd candid shot.) Then, out of nowhere, Beyoncé dropped her anticipated album into the world. That in itself is enough to be remembered. Not that the music isn't, but I honestly think the astronomical hype that was created through the surprise release generated a good portion of the "love" that the album gets.
As for the singles argument - I also disagree on that. Applause got enough traction on radio that I think people would recognize it easily. However, I'm not quite sure if they connect the song to Gaga - perhaps they know that it's a hit song, but do they know that it's Gaga's hit song? And as for Beyoncé, well, her latest hit was Drunk In Love, but I'm not sure that the average person would name that as such. I could honestly see someone naming Single Ladies or even Telephone as her latest hit.
How can she gain weight that fast?
This was her a few hours before, no?
She didn't gain any weight between these photos. The dress she's wearing is hugging her body a lot more than the clothes she's wearing in this picture. Not to mention the bad angle of the dress picture. I don't know why you guys worry so much about her weigh. It's not your body.

You have a point, yes. I guess everyone knows Applause and that it's a hit, but I guess not many connect it to Gaga...But literally everyone I know recognizes DIL as Bey's song.
The little "Dark Synth-Pop" phase music went through in 09-10.
Sis were you around for the Monster v. DITD 4th single wars back then because The fact that there wasn't even a 4th single at all got so many people pressed

I'm still appalled that they never released at least a fourth single. Even five singles was feasible. Should have been Monster and then Dance In the Dark after Alejandro.

Not here but have been a stan since Just Dance. She could have milked way more The Fame Monster

It's only an 8 track EP though, it's not like they were going to release half the album or more as individual singles. Though I could easily see the entire album (besides Teeth, kii) being viable singles at the time.
DITD was released to radios in Australia were it flopped so it won out in the end.
