That has barely anything to do with anything. It's bad enough that when asked to do a freestyle, she couldn't and rapped a verse from her album [before it came out] instead.

If she would stop acting like some sort of important figure in hip-hop and like the female equivalent of Pitbull that she really is, I guarantee you that there wouldn't be a problem.

Racism is definitely a factor in the Iggy hate but it's not the only one.

If it was just because she was white then Eminem would be hated too. It's also the fact that a white female, from another country, is dominating hip-hop in the US.

I'm on topic but you seem to be ignorant between hiphop music and the use of pop elements. And yes lyrics determine a lot. If Starships had the same beat but the verses were immaculate and hard. It's hiphop, Azealia Banks has been doing that **** over house beats for ages. But Iggy, her entire album plus all the singles released are not hiphop there's no clever wordplay, no clever lyricism, but grade school English class words.
Not saying nicki doesn't have her fair share of less than spectacular verses (sans starships) but at LEAST she can balance that with songs with lyricism.

Uh, except Fancy was an absolute bop. Clubs were playing it before it really took off on radio before a face was even attached to it. I have a feeling any up-and-coming female rapper would have seen the same success that Iggy did, well, the music video had a lot to do with it too so maybe not the exact same amount.

But I mean, if Nicki released it, it would have been a hit faster with the name attached. People need to chill with this notion that the public only lived for it because Iggy is white and made it more accessible.

Why is that AT ALL a justifiable reason for people to claim racial prejudice?! Iggy released extremely commercial singles, of course they're going to catch wind faster than some "genius" artist. That's how the mass market works. Look how many artists have made genius music for years and will never crack the top 20.

No one has the right to be mad at her for making easy-to-consume music. I mean, y'all stan and praise katy perry and don't seem to be claiming injustice that artists like Robyn flop every era.

The "hate" Eminem received was sewn from a completely different cloth. It was more because of how good he was and white. More of him being "hated on" than actually hated. Much like the hate the girl in gym class who is better than all of the boys recieves from them. He was still a super respected lyricist. Iggy is hated for almost the complete opposite reason.

So no. It's highly, highly prejudice, and should be condemned for that, but technically it's not racism.

What she benefits form "white privilege" is a real issue. Her "accent" is disrespectful, and she has used some black images to promote herself. But the personal attacks, and her being not allowed to do hip hop is stupid.
