Not her stans saying they're not offended when Y'ALL are the kind she was trashing ain't y'all the ones clapping, laughing and encouraging her to keep doing all this ****? when this is the kinda **** that made her nothing more than a twitter/internet celebrity. Sounds a little hypocritical y'all are doing the things she's talking **** about

I feel sorry for the gay men that stan for her, because I understand they're going through a phase of self hate. Don't worry it gets better

Uh, yeah, I really don't think her secret message was that she actually doesn't like her fans. But okay

Sorry, no. I'm 22 and I know my priorities. I know the homophobia that's actually worth spending time on, because I've lived through it. Don't sit there having never lived through what I have and tell me you know better about being gay than me. I would never pretend to know what being black was better than you
|
WTF are you talking about? Quote me where I've said I know about being gay more then YOU. Oh, wait, you can't. And even though I don't personally know the struggle, being a heterosexual female, doesn't mean I don't understand it and live with it. Two of my BFs are gay, my fave aunt is a lesbian, I have 2 gay cousins, male and female. And I've literally fought, like physically, to keep one of BFs from having his ass beat.
The fact that I don't turn a blind eye to ANY homophobic remarks, no matter how insignificant they may seem to some (like you apparently) shows that I'm willing to go to bat in any occasion for those I love and what I believe in.
It remarks like these

that allows continuous homophobia in society. And what you may think is small and insignificant will eventually grow to become a BIGGER problem. So thank you and you're welcome for trying to school me on something that I seem to know more about then you. Yes, now I said it.

she is the epitome of psuedo-intellectualism, just because you read a couple of Internet articles doesn't make you the enlightened messiah of change. God I want her to do better but she's so hellbent on purposefully annoying people that she will be remembered more for her trolling than her music... the saddest part about all of this

Said what I wanted to say but better.
Whole thing is just exhausting at this point...

You can't compartmentalize homophobia tho. Homophobia is homophobia and its important to work together as a society to get rid of it as a whole. Statements like the ones AB made tho only perpetuate the ideas in homophobes minds and also perpetuates self loathing with said gay people, setting back the conversation to a place it should be moved on from by now.
We shouldn't be talking about if what AB said is offensive or not, you as a gay male should care and know that it is offensive. What we should be talking about is how someone in her position is gonna get the message that thinking that way is only detrimental to the group of people that mostly support her at large and how it sets back the conversation in general.

Because you don't have power over the "**** face" - What you DO have power over, is your own damn self. This isn't anything like victim blaming - I'm not saying the person spewing the hatred is guiltless - I'm saying you can be the more powerful person in this situation.
Telling someone to be strong, isn't negative. It's empowering.
Irradicating a word isn't as easy as altering it's perception & use - So there's your logic.

Thanks for being cohesive. Most of the people here are bad on reading comprehension...

See, you admit it. You're so arrogant that you really do think you know more about being gay than me.
Despite you NEVER growing up gay in a military family, NEVER living gay in the South for 18 years, NEVER being the only gay man you knew for most of your life, NEVER actually being called a ****** in an offensive way, NEVER had to sit there and listen to your class talk about what was wrong with your soul while your teacher did nothing about it.
You'd absolutely hate if someone did this to you about being black and told you you didn't really understand what systematic racism was.
Yeah, Azealia tweeting ****** didn't have **** to do with any of those problems. The problems were the societal constructs set up by straight men and lawmakers. I focus my time on my political efforts for the gay community when I want to make a change in the world. Bashing on Azealia doesn't make anything better for me.
Yes, it's offensive and stupid but I'm not going to pretend it's a big ass deal because it's really not.

I know it's offensive and stupid. She's a ****ing rapper/internet celebrity.
If a straight white man can say ****** on his terrible songs for years and get financially rewarded, y'all can let a bisexual black woman with less than 20k album sales say stupid **** on twitter, damn. And don't tell me I'm a bad gay person because I'm not as offended as you. We don't all have to think the same way.

I'm not about to read this long winded thesis. I only claimed to know more about it because of YOUR ignorant statement about some homophobia not being important enough to address.
ALL discrimination should be addressed, no matter how insignificant it may seem because small issues ALWAYS grow to become bigger issues. The fact that you choose to support a person who condones the use of homophobic remarks without care says enough about you as a gay man.
But continue here and defend her as she makes derogatory remarks about your existence while I defend your right to exist as you attack me. Have you tried coming for AB with the same ferocity?
No? Ok. And I can't even pretend that I'm going to agree to disagree with you because your blatant ignorance won't allow me. Have a blessed day.

What's really sad is how many of you are actually defending her. Are you that blind? Does being gay really mean so little to you that you'll excuse homophobia just because "omg ice princess slays henny!!!!"
Yes, she is a homophobe. You can "like" gay people but still be problematic and homophobic. Your excuses are the same thing as racist people saying "oh but I have black friends."

Why would you even open with this when our posts are all roughly the same length

Why would I do that when my point is that because of the context of the situation, I am not any more bothered than a South Park episode that used the word ****** to make some stupid point?
I don't know how many times I have to call what AB said crass, offensive, and stupid for y'all to understand that I really do think that and would never say what she said myself.
Besides the stuff about Perez being a messy ******.

She's such a damn mess. The f-word is to us what the n-word is to her, you'd think she'd be a bit more understanding. And gays will continue to stan for her

Ok her being a rapper/internet celebrity isn't the point tho. She's a human being with a voice thats actually slightly amplified cuz she can reach more people than the typical person. So what she says reaches more ears that could potentially still be in their formative years and skew the way they think about something cuz they look up to her. Her being bisexual doesn't justify what she said either. Its not right to reward that kind of behaviour with support, same goes for the straight white male. Its ****ed all around, but the thing is we aren't limited in the amount of times we can acknowledge that and call it out.
And actually yes, if you guys as a group want to get anywhere near progress then yes you'll have to think the same and have the same goals and ideals. How can you expect people outside of your guys' experience to understand what you guys want if you yourselves haven't come the the agreement?
Also, I never meant to imply that YOU are a "bad gay person", so I apologize for that.
