Everything about my statement is right.
An example of this is the "N" word. It's meaning has changed over time, is has been reclaimed & transformed from a negative slur. Words are all about intent & the meaning we allow them to have, or the power & influence we allow them to have over us.
I'd be angered if Azealia was using this word against a 12 year old, who was still in school, still being bullied, still questioning himself... But she isn't. She using it to refer to Perez, a man who has built an entire career off of ripping women apart on his website, violating their rights & promoting a culture of hatred & judgement - And he gets away with it because he's gay " kii, hihi". He is vile & deserves not one shred of respect.

why is that so hard for some of y'all to grasp? I hate the gay community as much as the next self aware homosexual does at times, but to walk around and say that 'every gay does this', 'they stereotype', 'they're mysoginists'..... you see what you wanna see, but your perception is skewed. And people like you are the reason there's so much faction in America, because you do nothing but label anyone different from you as 'them'
|
I would be inclined to agree if she were referring to all gay people, but she isn't. She's specifically calling out those who are judgemental, misogynistic, spiteful & self-righteous.

The thing is a lot of gay men are not only misogynistic but racist, (no blacks, no asians!) and even oppress themselves (no fems!). Like, I don't get it. People have no problem with this, but as soon as the f word is thrown around people wanna get offended?
|
Are you able to actually prove that the majority of gay men are racists, or are you simply generalizing? Homosexuality and racism are not mutually exclusive, but neither are race and prejudice. You can be a self-hating, light-skinned black person who oppresses dark-skinned blacks and hates whites, Asians, etc.

If this word still has any sway or negative influence on you after high-school, you need to re-evaluate yourself. Words change meaning constantly - What matters is intent & the meaning we ALLOW them to have. Perez deserves to be called a lot worse.
And I think it's time for bed, AB.

Every so often I still get surprised by ignorant comments like these. I don't think people offended by the word need to reevaluate anything, I think it's the ones supporting its usage who do. It's not acceptable.

Pff.
The more you get offended, the more you cry, the more power you give this word - The more it's going to be used as a slur against you - Because you've allowed it to be a weakness.
Grow a pair.
The moment I came out & proclaimed I was "a ******, now what?" to my bullies - Is the moment I reclaimed its power & it no longer effected me - So it could no longer be used to shake me.
That is an example of how language can evolve.

I think this boils down to the usage of the word
I mean who really wants to defend Perez?
Who's really surprised by Miss Camaraderie?

"@PerezHilton and that's what the ******s do! They get in the middle of girl beef because it validates them and makes them feel involved"
so explain to me, how exactly is she differentiating between which type of ******s are judgmental, mysoginistic, spiteful, or self righteous..? What about this tweet ISN'T judgmental, spiteful, self righteous, or homophobic? who decreed her as King Feminist: maker of Internet laws and protector of vaginas? your inclination to agree means nothing when you're blatantly wrong
it's pathetic the extent to which some of you will blindly follow a celebrity as if they aren't capable of delusion. Egg on ya'lls face, not mine

Just because it no longer effects YOU doesn't mean it doesn't effect others.

You are so so so misguided. I understand the intention behind statements like the ones you've made but in the real world it just DOES NOT WORK that way.
This basically goes hand in hand with victim blaming. Why focus on the victim of the word's abilities or weaknesses when you should be focusing on the **** face going around spewing such heavy hateful words? That kind of mentality only promotes negative thought progression and leads no where good.
It makes more logical sense to just move towards eradication of such words rather than "reclaiming" them.

The 'n' word may have changed meaning over decades of use, but it still isn't considered acceptable for a white person to call a black person the 'n' word. Similarly, Azealia isn't right for calling a gay man (as much as I LOATHE Perez Hilton) the 'f' word.
Any one that feels the need to insult some body by using racial or homophobic epithets needs to go back to school. If you think calling yourself the 'n' word removes its 'power' then good for you, but not every body is going to share this same opinion.

Clearly, the ones who get involved in "girl beef" for validation - i.e. Stan warriors.
Like message boards aren't filled with gay men, blind hatred & judgement over things which have no concern or influence in their daily lives - Those kinds of people are the ones she is referring to, those are the kinds of people she has been a victim of, and they do it to feel a sense of purpose, because they're shallow inside.
Tell me I'm wrong.
She is speaking about a specific type of narcissism within the gay & online community, and you want to make it about all gay people. People on here are offended, because they're part of the group she is talking about and they can't take the toxicity they spit.

you're wrong ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and your understanding of the gay community is, well, 'limited' at best, and by that I mean in the way that won't get me a WP.
night y'all! I'm off to dream about being a racist and exploiting cultures since it's embedded in my gay ass white ass DNA
