I always get confused when I hear people say that "black people can't have anything to themselves." Maybe this is me being ignorant... but we have black people singing rock music, country music, pop music, EDM Music, and rap music. But we can't have white people in Rap Music... why? Why is there the feeling that rap needs be exclusively Black artists, when other races don't have a genre exclusive to them? Educate me, because I want to understand the perspective.

The fact that you (and most other people) think that white people invented genres like Rock is the whole point. Once white people join in on a genre that was originated by people of color, it is them who gets the credit and they have an easier time getting the accolades as well. I don't feel comfortable speaking for black people when I'm not black, but I believe that the contempt for people like Iggy is simultaneously linked to fighting against Black erasure in history.
