No one remember Stays. Who's talking about it NOW. When we run down a list of stand out moments for Rihanna in music there is NONE. Her album sales are mediocre and you guys only brag about the sales because she's released more then anyone else. She has 7 albums, only one of them is multiplatinum and only 2 have manage to sell over 5 million WW. And for ALL the bragging the Navy has done for the past 5 albums to say, the fact that it took Rihanna 7 albums to inch close to a $150 million dollar tour says enough. Talk to me when her next tour actually does it.
And if we want to bring up Bey's 17 yrs, that would include DC. Are we going to include DC in this convo or nah? And Bey's tour acclaim and success is a wonder in itself, especially since pop stars and rock bands tend to have the highest grossing tours. Rihanna SHOULD have been surpassed Bey in touring, not playing catch up.
I'm being objective when I say fashion is her best bet. And I'm being objective when I say good for her. But nothing about Rihanna as an artist is iconic compared to her peers. Katy will eventually snatch her digital crown, and the only reason she has it is by default. She can't compete tour wise either. Girls like Katy, Gaga, and Taylor just breezed right past her with way less music out. Her album sales are mediocre compared to her hit records. Her magazines don't sell, even though she is this acclaimed "fashion icon". She simply can't find a niche in music to stand out because she has no musical identity. She is only as good as her next hit and when she stops getting hits what will she have to rely on?
Fashion. Which is why it's GREAT for her to build that bridge now before the other one burns because, IMO, she's not built for the long term musically.
