The 12 year old was aiming the BB gun at traffic from a bridge when the officer approached. The child took off running when the cop made his presence known. After the officer radioed in that a suspect was armed with a rifle, he chased after the suspect. Upon catching up with the suspect & telling him to get to the ground, he did. This is when the officer realized he was dealing with a child & a fake rifle.

I was stupid to have a BB gun that looks real enough to may have been shot and killed by anyone who saw or carried a real gun. I was also stupid to walk down the main street with it. I should have just kept it with my brother’s friend and shouldn’t have touched it at all. Even though I was walking, I was thinking in my head what if I get caught also what if I get killed. I am sincerely sorry for having the gun.

It's good to see that kids are learning that this is no joking matter. He's lucky he wasn't killed! Also, the child did what he was commanded to do by the officer & there were no charges.
