Beyoncé wowed the world with her surprise visual album last year, but still its after effect continues to leave Queen Bey’s name on everyone’s mouths like liquor.
Last weekend, the pop trailblazer released the brilliantly-crafted DIY-styled music video for “7/11,” and this week re-upped her game-changing visual album with Beyoncé: Platinum Edition.
Packed with two new songs (“7/11,” “Ring Off”), new and unreleased remixes (“Drunk in Love,” “Blow” and “Standing in the Sun”), the BEYONCÉ repackage also comes bearing plenty of visual goodness, which director Jonas Åkerlund happens to be a part of. Providing his golden touch to videos like the gorgeously creepy “Haunted” and rebellious “Superpower,” the award-winning Swedish director has been pretty mum on his directorial work since the album arrived. Until now.
With the Platinum Edition in stores, Åkerlund details the making of the album’s standout visuals and gives an in-depth play-by-play on how certain scenes came together.
It's clear to me that she was very much involved with creating the video concepts. She probably had a treatment ready for Haunted... Such a creative force
