She deserves her privacy like we all do.
Real stars don't pay paps to come out and photograph them getting out of hotels and what not. They leave courting press for the promotional events. That should be understood and respected.
The Australian media also said this:
Quote:
Perry’s stage-managed publicity shots are a contract between her, the media and the public. It is her image and body to do as she pleases. When she walks down the red carpet or appears on stage she is open season for comment and criticism. That is the time and place.
No person has the “right” to intimidate anyone. Especially now we are calling for a new order in how we treat women in this country.
And when Perry tells grown men who are threatening her to stop, that NO means NO. We must stop the conflicting messages — that there is a time to belt your wife or girlfriend or there is a type of woman who deserves respect and others who don’t.
We in the media are always screaming for celebrities to be role models. Well, Katy Perry is one.
Hopefully, her stance will inspire young women to make a stand when men are pressuring them for sex, to take drugs, against harassment in the workplace or at school. Maybe, it’s time for the media to walk the walk and not just talk the talk when it comes to being role models too. Fairness and respect. It’s not that hard a concept.
