You act like Mariah doesn't have a bunch of records on her own? That same year (93/94) she got the record for most sold out dates in Asia. You obviously don't know what a "peak" is. Statistically, she had the bigger peak worldwide. Celine, Whitney, Britney, etc all had bigger peaks than Madonna worldwide too numbers wise. Just the way the cookie crumbled

'Cause she had a 30M selling album (1 of only 4 women to ever do so btw, Whitney, Shania, and Celine being the others) era w/ 3 #1s then released All I Want For Christmas right after, to get a 15M selling Xmas album. And that was only 93/94 out of the entire decade.
Because none of us were alive/old enough to remember the "feel", you must go solely on numbers.

Do you have a credible source to support that claim? Cause its sales in the US are around 2.5 million and I can bet the US is the market where that song has sold the most, since that's a common thing when it comes to Mariah's accolades AND Madonna has songs with similar numbers, and bigger ones worldwide.
-------------
ANYWAY, Mariah might have the bigger peak in the US, for sure. Worldwide I would say it's definitely Madonna. And when it comes to memorable songs, iconic moments, influence and overall presence in the music industry on a WORLDWIDE scale then we know there's only one winner and it's Madonna.
But really who needs "peaks" when you have the most successful and impressive career EVER by a female? When you are selling out stadiums all around the world +30 years into your career? When you are credited as the most influential and iconic female entertainer EVER?
Definitely not Madonna.

Madonna doesn't have a song as big as All I Want for Christmas is You so the answer must be Mariah

Girl stay on topic. Just accept the fact that Mariah had the bigger peak.
Her peak in 93/94 sold her 30 million albums with two giant singles. Hero and Without You. Hers was a combination of massive single and album. Not to mention her peak was extended with the release of one of thr best selling Christmas album and single of all time, Merry Christmas and "All I Want For Christmas Is You".

All credible sources claim it has sold 14 million copies worldwide and is the third biggest selling song by a female only after I Will Always Love You and My Heart Will Go On. It will probably move up to #2 within the next few years as well
It has sold almost 2 million in Japan alone and over a million in the UK, plus it goes top 10 in literally dozens of countries every year. No Madonna song comes anywhere near its success

An essay, just to post a compilation effort (not an actual album, crafted from scratch with actual singles and stuff).
You'd have to a special kind of delusional to argue that Madonna was bigger than Mariah anywhere in the 90s. As I said earlier Celine, Whitney, and Britney all had bigger peaks
And cry @ the trying of AIWFC sales. Rolland, sister it's sold 2,000,000 in Japan alone NOT including digital sales. And sold more than 1 million just in the UK (where it is one of the best selling singles of all time, also more than any of your faves). Maybe the 2.5 US figure (I know the US is not apart of the world according to you, but still) you've got in your head is digital sales
The rest of the post is irrelevant to the topic as per usual.

I'm from the 90s so I don't know but I think Madonna overall, Mariah is famous (actually I prefer her) but she has always been very local, Madonna influence and impact was bigger without a doubt so I think she
Don't even know Madonna's or Mariah's peak sooo

Care to link me to those credible sources? Cause you all mention them nonstop yet you fail to provide the evidence.
It apparently has ~5.8 million certified. I wonder where it has sold the 8.2 million remaining for those claimed 14 million when her strongest markets and the biggest markets overall are already included in the lesser figure. I can't help but to think about stans inflating sales but of course I could be wrong.
You'd have to be a special kind of delusional being to argue that Mariah has ever been bigger than Madonna in the '80s (albums, singles, videos, impact, iconic moments, etc). But of course, you're always up for the challenge.
About AIWFCIY's sales, see my response to the other lamb. Hope you can provide an actual answer with evidence to prove me wrong. The fact that you always have to bring "my other faves" into your responses to me is so pathetic, childish and comical but you do you bae.

I guess it was too much for me to expect one to be able to use google on their own

What kind of logic? You really think it has only sold 5.8 million copies worldwide when it has sold more than that between the UK, US and Japan alone? Your desperation to discredit the most enduring female hit of all time is sad!

It's kinda hard to determine Mariah's initial peak because she pretty much cruised through the 90s at a steady pace.
If I had to pick, it would be Daydream.
Madonna's peak was definitely LAP/BAT era, which was MASSIVE and the most memorable female pop era of all time.
So with that said, Madonna.

Why are the lambs only focused on chart success?
A peak includes GLOBAL massive media coverage, iconography, touring success, etc.
Which Madonna had during her peak.

mimi is a one hit wonder to me. I only hear her xmas song. she is not very talked about outside of the US and most non english speaking countries.
and if you use the xmas receipts, then same can be said about "i got a feeling" or "Gangnam style"

That last part makes zero sense and it's not Mariah's fault you're uncultured and haven't heard most of her music. She's the highest selling international artist of all time in Asia and one of the biggest in Africa. The world doesn't revolve around Europe sweetie and let's not act like she didn't have major success in there anyway with Music Box and Daydream.
