I did it a few times, but only when absolutely needed. It's disrespectful, specially to people who wear glasses because the phone brightness bothers their vision when the glass reflects it. If you are going to do it, do it quickly and with your brightness turned all the way down.
Yeah, there were only like three people in the room and they were about 10 rows infront of me so I was texting people constantly. It's hard to stay focused when you're there alone, idk.
If it's quiet and there's no one on my row or behind me I'll also occasionally quickly look stuff up during the movie if they say something I'm interested in. (Only if it's a comic book movie and the thing is an Easter egg not important to the plot of the current movie).
