And if this is/was a real situation, let me just say that forcing the guy to pray was probably the thing that set off the conflict. When you're at a Thanksgiving table to say grace, you let people do what they want, you don't force them to conform. The kid is clearly not able to let something go and just let it pass, as would have been advisable,but the father is clearly a dick, too.

True. I feel sorry for him because he's torn. If I were him, as much as I loved my loved one I'd have to cut them out of my life if they kept pushing their religion on me. And I'd refrain from even going to occasions like this.

My mom is a casual Catholic and prayed before her meal but didn't require me to and I was already eating anyway. She didn't care, thankfully. She's very accepting and open-minded.
