the question isn't asking you which sold more, it's asking which is more global. as it stands they've both sold around the same amount worldwide, whereas dark horse owes 2m more of its sales to the US.

it can carry on selling all it likes but so long as it owes over 60% of its sales to the US it ain't going to be global

'Dark Horse' was obviously massive, but it didn't feel like a movement and felt like it was only big in English-speaking countries. 'Telephone' on the other hand was successful all around the world and the video was a huge deal and a cultural phenomenon at the time. It came out right when Gaga was at her peak and Beyonce was attached. I remember people salivating for it.

Therefore I'm going to give it to 'Telephone' even though I agree 'Dark Horse' was a massive hit as well.

Tik Tok (which is by far bigger than DH)
Bad Romance (which is by far bigger than DH)
and Love the way you lie (which is by far bigger than DH)

And sales are not everything. Telephone was a HIT in every single way. It was a lil phenomenon with the video.

I am not trying to argue if it's bigger than DH, because I honestly think they are pretty close. I gave the edge to Telephone only WW, in the USA DH is by far bigger.. which makes them kind of equal maybe..

But yeah. Telephone was huge, just because there were other bigger songs that year doesn't mean it wasn't huge..

US wasn't listed but even if it is multi-platinum there its still multi-platinum in less countries than Dark Horse and Dark Horse was still a bigger hit in the U.S.

California Gurls was definitely bigger than Telephone.

That IFPI list is dodgy seeing as it has it at 6 million when it sold that much in the US alone
