Third party publishers have nothing to lose putting games on as many platforms as possible.
To limit devaluing the companies' base console they release exclusive IPs to the platform.
This includes retro games that may/may not be remade/rereleased later on their platforms.
Also naming fad flappy games doesn't hide the fact that the mobile market is fickle as ****.

Sony are at least taking steps into it. I mean endless runners are popular, so why not promote your games with a game?
I mean chuck a Dr Mario game on there or something. And that was how it used to work, but that's not working now. But people aren't being drawn to old IP's anymore. I mean Mario games have been on the downfall since Galaxy sale wise. And Pokemon is Pokemon, but it could be even bigger than what it is.
As I said, Nintendo and other companies would see amazing boosts in popularity from the next generation who are tablet and iPad obsessed, by broadening the franchise to mobile devices.
It doesn't have to be a new game. It can be a quick puzzle game or an older game.
I mean look at Minecraft. That game became popular on Android and iOS platforms by kids, and now the franchise was just bought for 2.5 billion while having Toys, Books, Magazines etc. with Console Versions etc.
Even releasing Demo's to Tablets wouldn't be the dumbest thing to do. Every kid nowadays owns an Android or iOS device. Why not promote to them in a way that appeals to them most? Through playing a game. Kids aren't interested in Trailers etc. They have a "that was fun, is there more?" attitude and company's need to make the most of that.
