Man Accused Of Letting Kids Live In Home With Dead Body

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- A Volusia County man accused of letting two children live under the same roof as decaying human remains for weeks has been convicted of felony child neglect, authorities announced Wednesday.
Todd Christopher LaDuke, 39, was found guilty of two counts of child neglect and a misdemeanor count of failing to report a dead body to a medical examiner. LaDuke was sentenced to five years in a state prison followed by five years of probation

On Halloween last year, LaDuke and Nicole Scalise were arrested after a well-being check for Tiffany Kain revealed her remains had been decaying inside the home for up to three weeks, prosecutors said.
Two children had been living in "deplorable conditions" inside the home, which "was in total disarray, piles of animal feces and hoards of garbage were everywhere," according to court documents.
