certified sales don't equal actual sales, you know. It might've well have sold more than the certification but not enough to get certified again. So yes, it's almost/nearing the 3 million mark
Care to name a few?
If peaks aren't important why do they bother making the Hot 100 at all?
Sounds like a lot of excuses to me. God bless the girl and her stans for trying but she really has had middle of the road success for like 6 years now.

I like them both but……..Y'all call Ariana a main pop girl even though she barely has a single gold album. And Demi who (may have) just sold 1 million copies of an album after previous attempts. Again, don't spend too much time trying to disprove me on this part because 1) you can't & 2) that's not the point
Obviously peaks don't matter as much because streaming and radio are factors. Even if that weren't included, a song that peaks at #3 for a week and drops off after a few number of weeks sells less than a song that peaked in the top 10 or even 30 for example and stays charting much longer, the latter would obviously be more successful.
I've counted a little bit over 5 years. Don't you know the rounding rule or do you need to go back to 2nd grade and review it? Don't forget music wasn't really her priority for 2009-2012. Let me know where you're getting the extra year though when her debut single was in 2009

Congrats either way on Selena having one single that's sold more than 3 million worldwide. A true hit maker! When will other pop girls, like Rihanna, Beyonce, Gaga, Katy, Britney, etc.
No one really considers Ariana a solidified pop girl, but her effortlessly scoring 4 consecutive top 10 hits in less than a year when it's taken others 5 years to notch up two is impressive. No one considers Demi one either but you did try. Thanks for confirming no female artists that are considered big have never even had one platinum album.
Ok so basically some artists can get hit songs that sell really well as well as have high peaks while Selena can usually only accomplish the former. (being generous, considering she has no three million sellers and has never had a >200k selling week for a song.) Why is that?
And just because her film career has gone down the toilet (not that it ever really made it out of it) doesn't mean music hasn't been her priority.

One's better than none unlike your former statement :roll eyes:
If you think those two things, then you are REALLY out of it. Check out some of the threads.
Not sure what you're implying at there but Selena does have hit songs that sell really well. Selena has had a high peak with a single and several relatively high peaks. She might not have a >200k selling week but she outsells artists that do and that is ultimately what matters.
Her film career is fine as far as I'm concerned. She's not doing any blockbuster roles as of recent which is her choice. Music clearly was not her priority when she was filming WOWP constantly.
Strike 2, try again

I really 100% genuinely like The Heart Wants What It Wants and I want to support her but I'm not here for people denying facts, and the fact is Selena is not on the same level as the main pop girls.

It's possible but she will have to take the Britney path, accept that she isn't a strong vocalist and play to other strengths, she has a recognizable voice and a good tone, she needs to devour the Britney discography and learn how to set a mood with her voice.

The AMAs performance got her very good buzz and THWWIW is a current hit single. Miley Cyrus is above her success wise, but she is above Demi Lovato. Selena will have a great era now that she changed labels and will see alot of slayage from her part.
She has ALOT of hit singles that everyone knows (Love You Like A Love Song, Naturally, Round and Round, Come and Get it, Slow Down, THWWIW, etc.) and her singles do AMAZING on radio.
YES, SHE WILL become a main pop girl and your weaves aren't ready.

Selena does serve the bops though, its demi who loses with everything compared to selena and miley

Actually other than myself I don't know anyone who could name 3 of her songs so that must be a US thing. All the main pop girls have moderate to high success rates in other countries and specifically in the European and South American countries.

Out of the 3, Selena has Latin America. I don't know about Europe.
