And this has nothing to do with slavery, but I hope you know that Africans enslaved over 1 million white Europeans long before slavery existed in the United States. Who knows, that might have influenced why slavery existed in the US in the first place!

Slavery had always been around, but United States slavery is the first time anyone had ever been a slave based on race. US Slavery is what created the whole notion of white supremacy and it was all because some wealthy bimbos (essentially the 1%) wanted to keep their cash flow going. Read a damn book.
Also what you're talking about happened in North Africa (American slaves come from West Africa) where Muslim was the primary religion. The researcher also specifies that the enslaved were Christian. Meaning that they most likely were enslaved due to their religion.
