I watched the AMAs last night, waiting and hoping for a surprise Beyoncé performance. While it was clear she was not showing up to an awards show of that calibre, I got to thinking about how nearly every awards show teases us with Beyoncé performing. She's always rumoured to be performing and it's kind of aggravating that she never does.

BUT I realized this is Beyoncé. This is a legend. She knows what she is doing. At one time there was no way she'd miss the AMA's, but now she is a legend (or at least so close that we might as well say she is). She cannot and will not perform at all these award shows with the current pop flavours of the day if only for the fact that a legend is someone who is revered, mysterious, and anticipated as a big event. When she shows up, it means something special is happening and people take notice. As much a we went so much from Beyoncé, we must accept her new responsibilities as a legend and live with that.

At least we know she is a legend, and a current, successful and relevant one at that who is still making waves with a homemade video.

I don't need an apartment because I can do the Single Ladies dance and CIL Superbowl walk anywhere I want because I'm a Grown Man and I can do whatever I want.
