The thing is, Ariel Pink hasn’t won at all. While he brings himself a lot of headline-grabbing attention, he’s actually bringing a spotlight to the very real and pervasive racism and misogyny that is deeply embedded in indie rock to the surface. All that needs to happen now is that we all recognize this.

I don't recall Ariel using misogyny in his songs and what he said of Madonna was his personal opinion that SJW Grimes found misogynistic and felt the need to "comment". Being opinionated doesn't make you a a misogynist. Yes, what he said about Grimes being retarded is not okay but she was stupid for calling him out just because he said that Madonna hasn't released a good thing in over 20 years.
