How is this painting a bad picture of the industry? It's the law o.o

I saw a Sprite commercial with her in it singing like a few weeks ago. Its sad bc I feel she was truly going place.

Sorry. I should've provided more context. I meant that Simone only had $6000 to her name at the time of her death despite the fact that Ugly Heart was picking up speed in Australia and booked some commercials.

She was 1/5 of a group singing a moderate hit song written by 5 other people - no way was she making any major money from Ugly Heart's success.

She looked very buddist and spiritual lately, I wonder if she had some sorts of spiritual transformation? It gives me Lefteye teas, Lefteye before dying had accidentally killed a boy and said she was followed by spirits

According to my research, she was living in West Hollywood in the guest house of a larger residence at the time of her death. You can look at photos of her living space from twitter, instagram. It wasn't very big. I just don't think she was breaking even with her expenses. She also probably owed money to her label as part of her record deal.

I'm not really sure how these commercial deals work, BUT it took a while for the Sprite commercials to start airing (Simone died in September, the Sprite commercial aired in October). I'm not sure if she would receive royalties until after they aired it or if she was paid upfront when she booked it. I'm not sure where ya'll are questioning the motives of her actions or getting the idea that she was murdered.

... Um, of course I know that. She had endorsement deals too with Claire's, Coca-Cola and Sony. That's my point.

None of us know what her personal expenses were, what kind of debt she was in, etc.

Trying to break into mainstream pop music is not a cheap endeavor, and you generally don't make any money off your record sales until you've sold enough for the label to recoup whatever they spent recording and promoting it. Considering they weren't that successful yet and were splitting their money among 5 members + producers + songwriters, she probably wasn't making much money at all...

I thought that was her, but wasn't completely sure.
