That's extremely disrespectful. Unfortunately, I feel like this happens somewhat often in the LGBT+ community. It reminds me of the documentary Bridegroom, about a gay guy whose family presented him as straight at his funeral and kept his partner from attending.

Right? Like not only did the father totally disrespect his daughter's identity, he had to go and basically shock all her friends and family that DID support her when they came to the viewing.

I think that they just didn't understand or accept - which is something I'm sure a lot of people would be like. I think it's ignorance, fear, hate. People fear what they don't understand, unfortunately
