Huge resistance movement against the Mexican govt, sparked by the Ayotzinapa case (students abducted by police and handed over to cartel organizations under mayor's order). Demonstrations have been occurring almost daily. In an attempt to defuse this and basically shut Mexicans up,
a televised statement was released that revealed they knew the fate of the students, along with horrific confessions from the murderers. This backfired and only ignited more protest, especially after the parents rejected this as proof, pointing out that they had already been fooled by the government---remains of a mass grave were identified as their children and later disproven by DNA tests. Mexican student groups declared a national strike on Nov. 20, a day that celebrates the start of the Mexican Revolution, and that's where we are now. There were also demonstrations across the world showing their support, as this has caught international attention. This is a very basic summary but I hope it helps.
Tug on that wig, Mexi sis!
