Because she knows her stans will fall for it and her pretentious ways tbh. When it's all said and done ArtPop is not artistic and it's not pushing any new forms of Pop. It's just a very noisy Dance Pop album

The best description of art I've ever heard was that art is somebody who's put together something that deliberately provokes a response in an audience. The consumer is actually a participant in the art, almost being a part of a great art experiment about a living art experiment . Is that exactly what she did? OFCOURSE. Is her music pop? Without a doubt! Which is why she named her album ARTPOP

The title is ARTPOP, not Art Pop. It's Lady Gaga's concept and she did what she wanted to do with it. I don't get why this is so hard for people to get. Like, you don't get to say "you didn't successfully pull off your own concept" as if you're in their head and know what they were trying to do.

ARTPOP doesn't have to be ARTPOP to be called ARTPOP though. It can be the complete opposite and still makes sense in the context Gaga intended it in because she said her ARTPOP could mean anything. It's so simple. What don't you get?

Björk, Kate Bush, The Knife, iamamiwhoami, St Vincent, FKA twigs, Zola Jesus, James Blake, even Lorde could be classified as Art Pop.
Meanwhile 'ARTPOP' is, at best, generic Dance Pop.
Honestly, TRF.

It stands for doing the exact opposite of the Pop Art movement. One of the things Pop Art strove for was to bring pop culture into the realm of art. ARTPOP's goal was the exact opposite - to bring art into the realm of pop culture. That's why she described it as a "reverse Warholian expedition." (Warhol was a pop artist for those who don't know.)

In a generalised sense, the song deals with the appropriation of social misconception and the transformation of this character adulteration into a sense of self empowerment and personal strength in a climate of negativity and hate. At first, the song may seem like a scathing criticism of Donatella Versace, with lyrics such as "I'm blonde, I'm skinny, I'm rich, and I'm a little bit of a bitch" establishing an abrasive, cold persona that is commonly linked to the archetypical celebrity. However, would you critic Donatella Versace if yourself were not Donatella Versace? Clearly, Lady Gaga is not Donatella Versace, and therefore she does not critic Donatella Versace. A deeper interpretation of the lyrics which tangles with the metaphysical interface of art and pop involves the introspective metamorphosis of negative misconception into a message of empowerment, harnessing the power of misrepresentation and allowing it to manifest itself as a being that exists beyond the rancourous exaggeration of the blonde celebrity stereotype- a woman who radiates her magic even though she's misunderstood. Donatella. Voodoo voodoo. Voo-don-na-na. ARTPOP.

Better essays than some of the Gaga trolls.

Because Gaga broke the mold by saying she didn't want it, she was stronger than she was before, suddenly she couldn't resist the Jazz anymore and bang bang, she was not shot down
