In an abuse of Walmart's recently announced online price match policy, several customers have scammed the department store by turning in screencaps of third-party Amazon listings for the PlayStation 4 at $90 USD, instead of its market price of $400 USD. That's less than a quarter of its usual price.
On Amazon.com, users with a registered seller account are free to create their own product pages. This user-created PlayStation 4 listing was evidently enough to trick some Walmart cashiers into selling at least a few of the consoles at just $90 USD, reports NBC News.
While an exact number has not been verified, some Twitter and Reddit users have posted photos of their receipts to confirm that the scam worked.
In response to the scam, Walmart has tightened their price match policy to prevent fraud.
"We can't tolerate fraud or attempts to trick our cashiers," a Walmart representative told CNBC in a statement today. "This kind of activity is unfair to the millions of customers who count on us every day for honest value."
It was. Mods deleted it because it is fraudulent schemes and you can go to jail for it.
No it's not it is a moral gray area but not illegal as it was a price glitch on Sears.
It got deleted because people started talking illegal stuff like HTML editing.
