HML is pure pop ? Bloody Mary is pure pop ? Electric Chapel is pure pop ? The Queen is pure pop ? You and I is pure pop ? Americano is pure pop ? Highway Unicorn is pure pop ? Are u ****ing kidding me
No I'm certainly not kidding. All the tracks have a pop/rock vibe which are 80's throwbacks. ALL of those you listed. If that isn't pop then please tell me what you think they are. It's a pop album. From start to finish. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to know what you would call it.

after IASF and very mainstream radio hits B returned to classic RnB without uptempo and more organic ballads.
Till The End Of Time
Run This World
Love on Top
Countdown
I Care
Party
which of those is classic RnB without uptempo or an organic ballad?
4 is a brilliant record but it is hardly risky, the themes, genre and symbolism/imagery used in the record is hardly risky. Still among the best female albums released this decade though.
Erotica
Butterfly - At the time MC totally switched her sound from Pop to R&B
In The Zone
Hard Core - At this time in the 90s female rappers wasn't rapping exactly how Kim was, with her sexual raunchy lyrics!
Erotica, Impossible Princess, and Rated R. possibly Ray of Light, too. in fact, madonna's albums post-LAP and pre-Confessions were all pretty risky. you could even consider Confessions to be at least a little risky.
Born This Way. This was the biggest moment of her career, and she could have played it safe and released a hook-heavy, concise, basic pop album, but she went into something that was really dark, long-winded, and political, but the songs are still great.
BTW is the riskiest release by a MAJOR pop girl in the last 6 years. Unless you can prove me wrong ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
After TFM everyone was waiting for another Bad Romance yet she came back with Born This Way and songs like Bloody Mary, Heavy Metal Lover, Electric Chapel, Americano, The Queen and so on.
Go educate yourselves
Judas is a key word. The only song that sounded close to her previous material yet it's her riskiest single.
The themes on BTW are way riskier than the music itself, but even the music is risky enough for its time of release (when songs like Party Rock Anthem were smashing and Someone Like You etc.)
how is BTW "risky"? other pop stars did that kind of album 20 years before her. she's not the first to go from happy pop to something darker, you know.
Not only because it came from a massively successful formulaic bubblegum pop record, but it also shattered Christina's image, sophomore records usually make or break careers and Christina went all the way in by choosing Dirrty as her lead single.
The content & marketing of it was the riskiest era for anyone tbh. The fact that she was coming off an era that some had been saying had put her on the course of becoming the queen of pop makes it even riskier. Dedicating an era to bullying & the LGBT community was a massively risky thing to do.
