The BEP were undeniably huge, but they aren't very big as celebrities and their music is more radio-fodder than it is highly impactful, remembered hits. They had amazing chart success with IGAF and BBP, but next to Gaga they look rather mediocre.

The BEP were trashed for their performance

BEP had more impact than any popstar tbh. But that's the thing they aren't really popstars, so Gaga did have some impact in another fields.
Anyways, it's the same thing with Adele, she's the biggest music act atm but I don't get why people keep comparing her to popstars since she's not really one.

They are the epitome of "no-impact, radio-dependent" artists

it was SMASH after smash from them.
Gaga was more of a celebrity than them for sure.
But on the charts- I Gotta Feeling > Gaga's singles

I only ever heard Boom Boom Pow once on the radio

It's always crazy to me to see how successful BEP were because I somehow missed most of their success. I wouldn't even know IGAF if Seth Macfarlane shows didn't always use it. That being said, I did hear their "The Time" and "Dirty Bit" songs and saw a commercial that featured their "Meet Me Halfway" single.
