Anyways, he's not totally wrong, but as always (like with the Ice Bucket Challenge) people underestimate the value of celebrities promoting a cause. I already know many of these celebs legitimately donate a lot of their own time and money to causes too, so it's not the end of the world if they jump on a charity single. Too cynical
I do, however, agree with what another poster said about the continued depiction of Africa by the media being troubling.
I'm glad Adele didn't take part, it's a horrible cover. I didn't particularly like Band Aid 20 but at least it have celebrities wailing their lines and wasn't as bland and vapid as this version.

but on the other hand I also have to agree that gimmicks like Band Aid may be the only way to force people into thinking about other people at all.. I don't know if this creates more advantages or damage, but I'm quite sure most of those "artists" care only about themselves.
Firstly Adele didn't say those things about Bono or 1D. The OP is misleading. Those words were said by the journalist. There are no quotes from Adele at all.
Secondly, musicians coming together and raising money for charity is a great use of their talent. Anyone who disagrees are just twats. Charity work is ALWAYS a good thing. Encouraging people to help those in need is always good.
Thirdly, Bob Geldof guilt-tripping people into donating and being abrasive is the entire reason why Live Aid happened in the first place. It didn't happen because he asked nicely. Sometimes you have to cut to the chase to get things done quickly and that is what happened 30 years ago. The journalist is just being ignorant when criticising Geldof for that.
Charities do guilt-trip people into donating money. I know for a fact that charities will run TV adverts this Christmas showing sick and dying children and asking for money. Does that dampen my Christmas festive spirit somewhat, yeah sure. However I am not going to object to these charities running these ads, cos they help save lives. So more power to them.
Adele's always been stuck-up and on a high horse so I wouldn't be surprised if she said this anyway. Bono's down more for the world than her overrated album ever did.
Thats the journalists views and not Adeles in the OP fix it.
