Germany’s World Cup winning goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is a dark horse candidate for this year’s Ballon d’Or, but he, for one, isn’t buying it.
Speaking with German magazine Kicker on possibly being named World Footballer of the Year, Neuer said his image off the pitch probably hurts his chances.
"I’m a sportsman, not an ambassador for a brand, beyond being Adidas’ first goalkeeper. I’m not some guy who poses in his underpants", Neuer said, most likely in reference to a certain someone who plies his trade in Spain:
