The Old Testament marriage laws (and all Mosaic laws in general except for the 10 Commandments) were only commanded to the Jews and are already superseded by the New Testament laws hence no Christian follows them. Marriage in the New Testament is simply between a man and a woman. It doesn't discuss polygamy, gay marriage or any other alternative unions.

you would think reasonable people would find the whole religion a fraud once the bible started flipping rules and concepts entirely around in the New Testament. Why do you believe in something with no backbone?

The Old Testament laws are foundational, prophetic and historical. They now only serve as a reminder of how people were before the coming of Christ. The New Testament is the fulfillment of the Old Testament laws through the atonement of Christ. It means believers no longer live under the Old Laws as Christ has fulfilled them already. Christianity should commence with Christ and his teachings.

Christians are informed by the OT. They abide by the NT.

Funnily enough, the passages that are most frequently cited against LGBTs ("You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination" / "If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them") are from the Old Testament

Condemnation of homosexual act is also mentioned in the NT but it does not include putting someone to death as punishment.

You're missing the point. The Old Testament laws including rape laws were already overridden by the New Testament. It means they are no longer in effect.

Also, "Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ." is found in The New Testament. so...

The Bible neither condemns nor condones slavery. The condemnation of slavery is one of those nonbiblical doctrines that Catholics have developed through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit over the centuries (and that Sola Scriptura Protestants criticize them about).
