It's getting dragged on Instagram, Twitter + ATRL. Was it the acting? Was it the cast? The plot? Aaliyah's music being protected so therefore the movie was not as realistic?
I didn't watch it and I don't really have time to as I have loads of homework to do. But for those who did, please feel free to drag
The acting, the cast [Missy and Timbaland were both skinny], you could see the outline of the bald cap that they put on "R.Kelly" and the singing wasn't that good. It's like they didn't study Aaliyah properly bc they made her seem like an arrogant girl who was obsessed with older men. Most of the things in it probably didn't really happen.

The problem is that it was rushed to capitalize on the success of CSC; they didn't take any time to properly get a sense of what Aaliyah's life was like and how to properly portray her. Everything about the film was a mess- the casting, the production quality, the lack sincerity in the plot.

In addition to things already mentioned, I don't like how she went over the family's heads and did it without their approval. Only to give her interpretation of things she doesn't know. And then she goes on as if she's doing them a favor.
I only caught one scene from the movie, and it was atrocious. Whoever was portraying Missy was awful... they must have forgot Missy was a big girl back in the day
EVERYTHING
no music from the dead singer
I mean I thought all the songs were by her till I looked them up they were by Britney spears and some other singer
the skinny missy
and the fact that everything was more off r kelly and aaliyah more than her career
the fact that they didn't show how she died!!!!!!
but queen Selena movie remains unbothered
seriously they should've done like they did with selena jlo did an excellent job
Horrible casting and acting and it just didn't do Aaliyah justice. She wasn't shown as the amazing performer she was or how influential she was, it was just pointless. You learned nothing new that wasn't on blogs already about Aaliyah like the TLC movie. They didn't even pronounce her name right in one of the scenes. Her names [Muhammad] Aaliy-ah , not Uhliyah

This is not true at all. First of all they did the singing justice, Aaliyah was not the most amazing singer especially live. The movie was actually good and ATRL as well as the internet is doing way too much.Tthey all seem so bitter.

I'm by no means an Aaliyah fan but come on. They did a poor job. Aaliyah was very shy and soft-spoken but also fun. This girl was a bit too... vivacious. They didn't even say her name right the entire movie.
