There is no point for it. It's for the socially awkward people who can't socialize without being a little buzzed.
It's clearly not healthy since it messes up with your mind but yay! party! bitches! alcohol!
NYC has such a drinking culture that it's almost impossible not to partake if you have a social life. Happy hours, boozy brunches, parties, work events etc...That doesn't give you carte blanche to lose the plot every night, but I've found that drinking is much more prevalent/embraced here than when I lived in FL. Especially in the winter when everyone is miserable and there's nothing better to do than hole up in a cozy bar/lounge and warm yourself with whiskey.
I'm sure part of it has to do with the fact that most people don't drive and thus feel they don't have to limit themselves as much. Or it could be that this city is full of low key alcoholics.
I'd only drink it to taste, and I usually don't like alcohol. It doesn't taste good, and very easily makes you feel bad later on so idgi, and it can be dangerous
It's nice to go out, have some drinks, be social and have fun, safely of course. It's just a lifestyle. You don't have to or act like the holy spirit Himself about it.
You don't have to drink to the point that you end up drunk. I like to drink each time I go out to a restaurant, because it's nice to have a meal combined with a glass of wine for example. When I'm going out at night, I drink just to be tipsy enough to have a good time and party. I hate ending up drunk, because personally my hangovers were the worst.
I dunno but as I've gotten older I've found getting drunk less and less appealing. Like if I'm out with friends or anything I just won't feel compelled to drink as much as they do or as quickly as they are.

I've only been drunk once and I didn't like the taste of alcohol.
Only one which tasted of lemonade
Anyways, I did it because I was at a party and I wanted to let loose
