It's annoying, different people react differently. Some people are like "I would rather you just be upfront and tell me you're not interested in me instead of ignoring me" but then there's also young, insecure gays, whose feelings you would really hurt by saying that.
I hate rejecting people. I feel so guilty/mean. Especially if I don't reply and they go off on a rant about what a **** person I am, and how I'm really judgemental/shallow. I think sex is a really important part of a relationship and it's important that you're attracted to the person you're with.
