Shakin' that thang on that man, lookin' all stank and nasty
Swore you look cute girl in them dukes, booty all out lookin' trashy
Sleazy put some clothes on, I told ya
Don't walk out ya heezy without clothes on, I told ya
You nasty girl, you nasty you trashy
You classless girl, you sleazy you freaky
I ain't never met a girl that does the things that you do
Change don't come your way it will come back to you
Put some clothes on girl
I would have to say no. I think a woman can wear what she wants, although I also think a woman should carry about a sense of dignity, which is the main point of the song, in my opinion.
So tragic when men try to define feminism when they don't even know what it is to begin with.
"oh but she sings about sex so that's against feminism wow! put some clothes on!"
No, but when a guy calls a girl trashy for having no clothes on it's sexist and ignorant, but when a girl calls another girl trashy for having no clothes on it's justified?
To me feminism is about equally, and if a male is in the wrong for calling a girl trashy so are females.
No denying that this is a bit problematic but like Ressti said, she was literally teenager when this was written and this was more than 10 years ago. Obviously, she fully understands the entire concept now. Independent Women was on this same album after all.
